What a liner replacement involves
Replacing an inground vinyl liner means draining the pool, removing the old liner, preparing the floor and walls, and installing a new custom-measured liner, then refilling and balancing the water. The installation itself typically takes about a day once your liner arrives; custom liners are manufactured to your pool's measurements, which takes several weeks in season.
In the GTA market, inground liner replacement typically runs from around $4,000 to $7,000 + HST depending on pool size, liner thickness, and the condition of the surfaces under the liner. Complex pools can run higher. Your written quote itemizes everything before work starts, so the price you approve is the price you pay.
How your liner replacement works
Measure
We measure your pool precisely: dimensions, depths, steps, and corners. Accurate measurement is what separates a fitted liner from a wrinkled one.
Manufacture
Your liner is custom-made to those measurements. In season, allow 3–6 weeks for manufacturing; book early if you want to swim by a specific date.
Drain & remove
We drain the pool, remove the old liner, and dispose of it.
Prepare
Floor and walls are inspected and prepared. Any repairs are reviewed with you against the quote before they happen.
Install & fit
The new liner is set, fitted, and vacuum-sealed into place, stretched and seated so it sits tight in the track without wrinkles.
Fill & finish
We refill the pool, balance the water, and walk the finished job with you.
Signs your liner is done
- Wrinkles, bulges, or ridges that keep coming back
- The pattern is gone (faded sections or whitening above the waterline)
- The liner keeps slipping or falling out of its track
- You're losing water and topping up more than usual
- Rust stains showing through from behind the liner
One or two of these can sometimes be repaired. Several at once usually means the liner has reached the end of its life. When to book a liner replacement in the GTA
Spring is the busiest window: everyone discovers liner problems at opening, and manufacturing queues stretch. If you want to swim by early summer, measure and order in early spring.
Mid-summer is often the smartest time to book: scheduling is easier, and warm weather is ideal for fitting vinyl. Late fall installs are weather-dependent; cold vinyl doesn't stretch properly, so we won't fit a liner in conditions that compromise the result.

How long does a new liner last?

How long does the job take?
The installation itself is typically about a day. The full timeline is driven by liner manufacturing (custom liners take 3–6 weeks in season), plus a weather window for the install.
Can you fix wrinkles without replacing the liner?
Sometimes, it depends on the cause. Wrinkles from water chemistry or groundwater can occasionally be worked out; wrinkles from an aged, brittle liner or a mis-measured install usually can't. We'll tell you honestly which one you have.
